Just when I think I understand my body, it starts speaking in a different language. It has been FOUR whole years since I've gone gluten-free. I've had my ups and downs with food- my fights with dairy and soy, misunderstandings with sugar, screaming matches with lentils, and the list goes on. But most recently, I'm finding that any old food can trigger my GERD. Ever have acid reflux? It feels like my throat is on fire. New foods are stepping into the boxing ring, and I am in a match I certainly did not train for.
For the umpteenth time, I need to start an elimination diet. Not quite sure my plan yet - but there's no possible way all of these foods are triggers. I'm talking bananas, almond milk, eggs, gluten-free bread, apples, etc. It feels like anytime I eat my throat is being stabbed. There is something irritating my insides, and I need to figure out what it is.
I find comfort in the fact that I am otherwise healthy. I can sleep fine, aside from my digestive tract my body functions very well, and I am at peace with the world. If you have any tips or have GERD, hollatchagirl! My main triggers: tomatoes, eating late, coffee or olive oil on an empty stomach.
